Citadel Edge undertakes a number of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. These matters are important for our customers, our employees, our investors and other stakeholders, and should serve as a point of reference for our suppliers.
This page provides a summary of our activities.
Citadel Edge’s ESG initiatives reflect the initiatives across all divisions key divisions, including:
Citadel Edge realises it has a role to play in the reduction of carbon emissions globally.
A key part of what our divisions do is to help customers with complex enterprise software installations move to the cloud. In doing so, they can reap the significant benefits that the scale and purchasing power of key cloud providers bring compared to locally installed and managed products, with research showing [1] that cloud computing can result in significant carbon savings compared to on-premise installations. Some of the major cloud vendors have made ambitious promises [2] regarding further environmental optimisation of their operations in the areas of renewable energy purchasing, water conservation and waste reduction.
In addition, since 2021, Citadel Edge (in conjunction with its sister companies in the health software space) has conducted annual externally reviewed carbon assessments of its own operations that seek to identify the company’s full-scope carbon emissions. A copy of the executive summaries of the latest assessments for our group can be viewed here and here. In each year since 2021, Citadel Edge has acquired carbon credits from quality programs sufficient to offset these emissions. You can read more about the projects we have chosen in our section headed ‘Social’.

While carbon emissions identification and offsetting are important activities, we know that we have to do more to reduce our carbon footprint and combat climate change.
At the end of FY22, we moved our own metered electricity consumption to 100% greenpower across our Australian offices, or have acquired greenpower certificates for non-renewable consumption. We have also factored in environmental considerations to our real estate reviews. Our head office at 600 Bourke Street, Melbourne has a 4.5 star NABERS energy rating and uses 100% greenpower for the common areas, and we take similar ratings into account when seeking new accommodation.
In 2024 we announced our employee novated leasing program for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to help our employees who would like to acquire an EV or PHEV do so in a cost-effective manner. Although we see this as a great employee benefit, it can also help to reduce our scope 3 emissions from employee commuting. We understand that the source of power that charges the EV is important, so we capture that data where we can from our employees also.
Our Technology Solutions division deals with a significant amount of packaging as part of its operations delivering, installing and upgrading unified communications products. Technology Solutions runs a comprehensive recycling program with much of the packaging and end-of-life equipment recycled professionally to preserve resources.
In our office locations, we run separated waste disposal, with recyclables and landfill collected and disposed of separately. In our head office, we also have organic waste separation supported by our building owners. We also leverage the container deposit schemes in the various locations, often donating the revenue to local charities.
Citadel Edge understands that quality governance processes are critical to the proper delivery of its services. Policies, processes, training and monitoring activities are in place to address key governance issues such as work health and safety, anti-bribery and corruption, privacy, cyber security and regulatory compliance.
Citadel Edge operates internationally, so it has a broad range of compliance obligations, including the UK Bribery Act, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Australian Crimes Act. Citadel Edge has a zero-tolerance policy for bribery and corruption risks and trains all its personnel annually on how to identify and report actual or suspected bribery and corruption. Citadel Edge operates a whistleblower hotline for its employees, customers, suppliers and other interested parties to provide anonymous (if requested) reports of actual or suspected bribery or corruption, compliance failures, or instances of modern slavery.
At Citadel Edge, we are committed to respecting human rights and preventing any form of modern slavery in our operations and supply chain. We adhere to the highest ethical standards and comply with all relevant laws and regulations regarding modern slavery, such as the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018. We have implemented policies and procedures to identify, assess, and mitigate any potential risks of modern slavery in our business activities and relationships. We also conduct regular reviews to ensure our compliance and performance.
We expect our suppliers, contractors, and business partners to share our commitment and values, and to operate in a responsible and transparent manner. We require them to comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct, which set out our expectations and requirements on human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in combating modern slavery and promoting human rights. We encourage our employees, stakeholders, and the public to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or other unethical or illegal conduct in our operations or supply chain through our confidential and anonymous whistleblower hotline, which is available 24/7 and is operated by an independent third party. We ensure that all reports are investigated promptly and thoroughly, and that appropriate actions are taken. We also protect the rights and safety of the whistleblowers and the people affected by the reported issues.
We are proud of our ESG initiatives, and we will continue to report on our progress and challenges. We also welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve our ESG performance and impact.

United Nations sustainable development goals
Each year Citadel Edge seeks out high-quality carbon offset projects to help it meet its carbon emissions objectives. As part of our assessment, we take a close look at the co-benefits of a project, and how they align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
As a percentage of the total number of projects from which we acquired offsets, our FY24 projects contributed to the UN SDGs as set out in the table below.
These projects were in areas such as renewable energy, ecosystem conservation, and household devices, and were located in Brazil, Türkiye, Kenya, India, and Indonesia.
